Thalassotherapy (from the Greek word ‘thalassa’ meaning sea) uses the marine environment, the sea and its derivatives (algae, mud and sand) for therapeutic purposes. Seawater is rich in minerals (magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium sulfate) that the body needs, and scientists have found that there is a strong physiological similarity between seawater and blood plasma. Thalassotherapy helps stimulate physiological functions while soothing away stress, tension and fatigue naturally, thus slowing the ageing process of the body.
